Lake Superior Back Roads, Pictured Rocks National Lake Shore
|
| In October of 2008 we were artists in residence at Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore on the shores of Lake Superior in northern Michigan. The park is much noted for grandly colorful wind- and wave-carved stone formations that outline the park's western shoreline, but we preferred to focus on the lesser-known eastern beaches, dunes and inland trails. We spent many hours walking beaches and following trails and back roads, immersed in the complex birch-forest scents and colored splendor of a superior autumn. This series of artworks, "2008 prints", represents a few of our findings.

| We are well into our third winter on the Keweenaw peninsula at the northern most part of Michigan's U.P..
The likely question from most people when we tell them that we live in Calumet, Mi is " What's the winter like?" We answer "snow". What we should answer is art, because when the snow has drifted the back porch closed and the landscape and roadways transformed to a clean white lace we make art.
